It’s the 2025 halfway mark folks. I had a solid June, hope yours was as well.

My favorite part of last month was sketching from the herbarium collection at BRIT (Botanical Research Institute of Texas in Fort Worth). The kiddo attended her first week-long summer camp at BRIT. While she learned about cool things upstairs, I set up shop in the herbarium downstairs.

Deciding where to begin was overwhelming (there are only over a million specimens, no big deal) so I decided to go with something I knew I’d enjoy spending time with - Texas cacti. After the first several folders of specimens I found my thing…Cylindropuntia aka cholla. There are so many different species! Total. Geek. Out.

In other studio news: A few of the desert works were made into the largest scale prints to date which was cool to see and the canyon paintings continue. I have several in-progress canyons on panels to complete and I’ve begun to submit exhibition proposals for a future solo show.

The Mama and Baby pairs are finished, they just need an environment of some sort. The amulet necklaces keep multiplying - I made stands for them to be displayed at Artspace111.

For July, the Studio Shop is highlighting my girl, Lolly. Who is Lolly? She is an observer. She is smart and brave. Her love of exploration deepens her value of home. Lolly learns about the world through adventure and she’s a little girl that I’d want my own daughter to know.

I made another coloring page for the kiddo. Title: Lolly’s Magic Land. You know how long she spent coloring it? Zero minutes.
