It’s June. Hope y’all have your sweatbands handy. I didn’t even have a chance to sit with the month of May before she was gone. The canyon work is trucking along. All paintings on matboard have been framed, there are four panels that need to be finished, and I need to build four more 18”x18” wood panels.

It’s a nice place to be in a series - I have a direction, a lot of the paintings have been completed but there’s many still unfinished and waiting in the queue. I’m still discovering things and coming up with the words to explain it all. Most importantly, I’m still excited as I walk to the studio. Below are shots from the studio last month.

Last month, the fam and I put our feet in the dirt of a real canyon. Caprock Canyons State Park rules. It’s our favorite place to visit. The landscape is unreal (think Mars), it’s uncrowded (do people just not know about this place?), it’s home to the Texas State Bison Herd (no big deal, just the last remaining purebred descendants of the Southern Plains bison), and it’s located in the tiny town of Quitaque, TX - population 342 (just our speed). Oh and let’s not forget the dang prairie dogs.
